These Testimonials Remind Me that I am Doing My Own Great Work

Bye-Bye Boring Bio Success Story No Comments

A few months ago, I had the wonderful occasion to meet a woman named Mariette Edwards after presenting via webinar for the good folks at Practice Pay Solutions.  Mariette’s  gift to share with the world is to guide people to do their own great work in the world.  Working together, we found the right words to tell her story at www.doyourgreatwork.com.  Last week, she send me a post card to say thank you  for our work together, and the invitation was to visit her newly branded website that tells her story.   Her message was short and sweet:  “Nancy, it all came together with your bio.   Clearly you are doing your great work!”

When clients take time to send me handwritten notes on personal stationery, I know I am doing something right.  That feels just great.

Just today, I heard from another satisfied client, Gigi Centaro.  Gigi engaged me to prepare a speaker sheet to support her success after enjoying the first session of the bio and branding wow now tele boot camp concluded in the spring.   Here is what Gigi had to say about our work together:

“The first thing I requested of Nancy when I engaged her services was a speaker sheet. Although I’m an author and I’m good with words, I was having trouble putting my passion to paper. I wasn’t able to show myself in the best light. It’s impossible to see yourself and your work clearly. Nancy spent over an hour on the telephone interviewing me to get the heartbeat of my speaking style and message. She took that information and created a first draft of my speaker sheet.   I was thrilled with the words she found to describe my topic. They were witty, clever, fun and engaging. I did some revisions and sent it back to Nancy. She then took the best of my changes and added even more of her brilliance. The result was a speaker sheet that is dynamic, clear, exciting and attention getting.  Nancy has a gift with words. She comes up with ideas and concepts that are novel and powerful. She generously gave additional time on the phone brainstorming and giving suggestions. She certainly gave value beyond what I had expected.   You can’t see your work clearly. You need someone to shine a spotlight on you to make your work come alive. Nancy Juetten is someone that will make you shine and allow you to stand out from the crowd.”

Gigi Centaro, Award-winning author and speaker, “Let’s Cook Tonight”,  www.GigiSpeaks.com

It really does light me up to know that my word wizardry can be unleashed to support the success of really great people who have their own great gifts to share with the world.    With Labor Day fast approaching and busy families scrambling to get a lot of things done to prepare for a demanding fourth quarter and chaotic school year, the timing is right to take more action.  That’s why I am encouraging Mariette and Gigi to prepare and share press releases and story pitches for the media that are packed with useful tips and suggestions to guide people everywhere to benefit from their sage advice in perfect timing for the Labor Day and “back to school” windows.

When broader audiences learn about these fine people and the missions they are here to serve, the buzz will build, invitations will flow, and prosperity will soon follow.   It’s just a matter of preparing and sharing their stories with the right audiences to benefit and sharing the information in a way that is timely, newsworthy, interesting and relevant.  Step by step, one inspired action at a time, success will flow.  With inspired women such as Mariette and  Gigi, I have no doubt.

If you need to bring in the reinforcements to reflect your own brilliance in a way you may not be able to articulate on your own, I am here to serve YOUR great work.  Get in touch, and let’s make it happen in perfect timing.  My email is nancy@AuthenticVisibility and my phone number ( PST) is 425-641-5214.

Speaker Diane Ingram Tells a More Compelling Story Now Worth Dancing About

Bye-Bye Boring Bio Success Story No Comments

With so many coaches in the world seeking to make a profound difference in the world, it is really important to nail your particular message so people can know right away if what you speak about is what lights their fire.  When Diane Ingram came into my life, she was getting short-listed for potential speaking gigs, yet she wasn’t satisfied that her message was strong enough to reflect her own authentic story and the value her presentations could deliver for the right audiences.

Before working together, her headline read:

Transforming Insight into Action

The ultimate result for the listener wasn’t clear, and the statement seemed generic as opposed to memorable and magnetic.

After working together, her headline with a subhead now reads:

It’s Time to Envision, Dream and Transform Your Life Now!

Say Farewell to Naysayers, Energy Bandits, and Dream Squashers

and Dance to the Groove of Your Heart’s Longing

There is more energy packed within these words — and some attitude besides.  You can read the rest of her story by visiting this link.

We all have a message to share. Finding the right words and tone of voice to deliver it to the benefit of your ideal audience  is where the journey begins.   If the words don’t dance on the page right out of the gate, that can make it  hard to get invited to share your message at the dance.

Now, Diane is taking steps forward along her path to welcome more speaking engagements with a message that speaks her own truth.  With a more compelling headline and story, she is on her way.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience working with Nancy to create a bio for my speaking/life coaching business that truly speaks to who I am. When I heard Nancy’s interview on Speakermatch.com, I got how my bio is the first thing a client sees about me and how it can make or break a decision to hire me. I knew at that moment that I wanted Nancy’s expertise at word wizardry to help craft my bio. I learned that it is possible to distill all the aspects of myself and my business, into a concise, clear story that is compelling, engaging and impressive!”  — Diane Ingram, PCC, CSC

If you would like to listen to the Speakermatch radio interview, here is the  link to make that easy:  SpeakerMatchInterview21711 .  Enjoy.

Eliminate The Chaos at Work — Book Debut Gives Author and Productivity Consultant Reason to Polish Her Story

Book Publishing, Bye-Bye Boring Bio Success Story 1 Comment

Professional Organizer and Productivity Consultant Laura Leist, founder and president of Eliminate Chaos, is leading a great business that is guiding clients to do exactly that for their homes and businesses.   The debut of her newest book, “Eliminate The Chaos at Work: 25 Techniques to Increase Productivity,” gave her  reason to revisit her story to put her very best message forward.

When I reviewed her prior story, I was struck by the meaty credentials and also curious to learn more about the woman behind the company.   Surprisingly, there was precious little about Laura in her story that helped me quickly get to that “like, trust, respect” place fast.   By asking a few probing questions, I learned  some compelling things to make her story shine.  For example, she came upon her talent for organizing through acts of love and service to her visually impaired mom, who needed everything to be in place in order to feel in control over her work as a music teacher and her life as a single parent.

Laura also revealed that her well ordered house in the rainy Northwest was once home to a beloved Saint Bernard named Mozart.  She even trained him to hold his paws up to be wiped clean before entering the house after trips outside.  Something about that really resonated.  After all, her business is about setting up systems that give clients more time for life.  Even by the manner in which she trained her treasured pet, she walks her own talk.

With those details revealed, the story took shape to showcase Laura’s impressive credentials, the news about her latest book, and personal information to guide any potential client to feel fabulous about and motivated to buy her new book and engage her services as a speaker and productivity consultant.  Read on to enjoy Laura’s story.  If you need to Eliminate Chaos in your life, now you know who to call to get the mission accomplished.

And, if you need help telling your story to put your best message forward, check out the three most popular ways clients engage with my company to get the job done.   You’ll find those details right here.

A Rant about Words that Don’t Work for Client-Attracting Bios and Others

Bye-Bye Boring Bio Success Story No Comments

When I asked a client what she does, here are the words she shared to explain:

“I work closely with my clients to understand their unique situations, issues, and objectives and design solutions together with them.  I tap into a wide range of resources, training activities, and assessments to create programs that meet their specific needs.”

I read the words a second and third time.   Still, I didn’t understand the unique value, approach or ultimate result this client brought about and for whom.  That is a problem.

These two sentences could just as easily be applied to the owners of a Bernese Mountain Dog with behavior problems as they could be used to describe the activities of a highly paid consultant.   That is not a good thing.

If your bio is packed with this kind of heavy freight, take a moment to choose more specific words that get to the meat of the matter in a way that your ideal client will love.

New Bio and a Targeted Story Pitch Land Bernice Bright Dickey’s Story in the Houston Chronicle

Bye-Bye Boring Bio Success Story, Media Savvy 101 1 Comment

In September, Bernice Bright Dickey signed up for an Extreme Bio Makeover, and by the time the ink was dry on the new bio, a targeted pitch was on its way to the faith/values editor at the Houston Chronicle to invite a feature story.  The pitch was right on target, and Bernice’s story is now being told.  Check it out at this link.

Here is the pitch I sent, which enlisted a reply within minutes.  This pitch showcases how useful it can be to have your bio and relevant prior media coverage embedded within the text of an email to make it easy for the reporter to decide to proceed.  Notice that the pitch makes clear why Bernice’s story is timely, useful, relevant, compelling and local?  This is always a winning recipe.

The lessons here are simple. First prepare your story.  Then share your story.   It’s just that simple.  And it works.

Hi Diane,

Since you write about health for the Houston Chronicle, I am connecting with you to share a compelling story about emotional healing that seems especially timely, given that our nation is preparing the honor the anniversary of the 9-11 tragedies and the people of the Gulf Coast continue to heal in the aftermath of the losses suffered at the hands of Hurricane Katrina.   This is a story about a local woman who has traveled a remarkable journey of emotional healing to triumph over great personal tragedy and commit her life to guiding others to do the same.

Bernice Bright Dickey, a resident of Sugarland, Texas, has a powerful message to share about rising up to achieve what is possible in the face of profound personal loss.  You may remember reading about a tragic car accident within the pages of the Houston Chronicle in January of 2002.

Her husband Kevin and 10-year-old daughter Naomi were killed when their car and a train collided, and baby Miriam was the only one to survive the accident before the car exploded in a sea of flames.    Bernice, in one moment, went from wife and mother to widow and single mother.  What makes Bernice’s story especially compelling is that this accident was the second accident to claim members of her immediate family.  Her parents were taken from her as a result of an auto accident that took place 11 years prior.

Today, Bernice has emerged from her despair to write a book and become a minister of healing to others who are in some process of grieving profound loss.   Bernice is a licensed minister of the Gospel at Kainos Community Church in Katy, TX. At Kainos she is a Rhema Minister, bible study teacher, and teacher trainer for all bible study teachers. She is fiercely committed to guiding the bereaved and broken-hearted to achieve reconciliation of their profound losses and closure in reconciling past hurts so they can move forward with perspective and feel gratitude for the lives they must be fully present to lead.

As Bernice shares her journey from despair to possibility, she guides others to:

  • Get unstuck in their grieving process
  • Gift themselves and others the treasure of forgiveness
  • Release bitterness and anger to open the door for grace
  • Tame depression
  • Rise up and be resilient, knowing that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger
  • Look forward to the rest of their lives with gratitude and belief that the best is still yet to come

Diane, don’t you agree that these messages seem especially timely and relevant and quite compelling to share with the readers?  My sense is that the readers would be inspired to learn how Bernice overcame the tragedies and losses of her own family members to rise up to guide others to do the same.    Here is a link to make it easy for you to learn more about Bernice and her book, entitled “My #1 is Still My #1″

I would be happy to arrange a convenient time for you to talk with Bernice and learn more about her story as a means to inform and inspire your readers at a time when her message can guide and heal in perfect timing.  I will follow up with you by phone in a few days to check your interest in this story, unless I hear from you first.

Sincerely,

Nancy Juetten

If you are ready for action, you know where to find me and engage me to help so you can get seen, heard, and celebrated — just like Bernice.
