Publici-Tea™ Graduate Success Story

Mikelann Valterra, founder of the Women’s Earning Institute, is a colleague, friend, author, and expert who is fiercely committed to helping women overcome underearning. She is quoted extensively in this article about how to ask for a raise in a down economy, and this is news you can use — now more than ever. If you struggle with under earning, you may want to check out Mikelann’s telecourse on how to conquer it once and for all. You can read more about it at this link.
When I started my business in 2001, I struggled with under earning and took some of Mikelann’s workshops. I still remember Mikelann describing the three typical buckets in which women find themselves. There is the “noble poverty” bucket. Here you lament that there has never been enough money, there never will be enough money, but at least the work you are doing is important.
The “prince charming is going to charge in and rescue me” bucket speaks for itself.
The third bucket is the abundance bucket, in which you believe that there is plenty of abundance out there and plenty enough for you.
Somewhere along the line, I made a huge leap from noble poverty to abundance, and I haven’t looked back. I thank Mikelann for the inspiration and the tools to deploy for much of my progress. You can make progress in that regard, too, if you avail yourself to her wisdom and her fabulous, high value courses. Both have certainly worked well for me.

I knew when I first saw the Flip Your Thinking Flash Cards, that they were something timely, newsworthy, relevant, and much needed — now more than ever. That is why I was thrilled when Creator Rebecca B. Cooper attended the 10-17 Publici-Tea™ Workshop. Today, she reconnected to share some positive comments about the workshop and a good review she earned as a result of following tips shared during the event:
“… I wanted to take the time to thank you for your amazing energy and wealth of information. The HARO tip alone was terrific. I’m responding to at least three media queries a day — and the fact is, there is no way I could reach these bloggers and reporters for a mention in their holiday gift guides any more efficiently. Lisa Reviews already picked us up at this link, and several others are interested…I have all of your information at my fingertips and know that when I get stuck, I can just mine a little deeper. The information was timely, useful, and a godsend to small businesses…I can really feel your sincerity to serve. You’ve doing a great job, and I’m sure all good will come back to you.”
Best regards, Rebecca B. Cooper
Thank you Rebecca. You have made my day.
These kinds of comments warm my heart and reinforce my commitment to inspire other business owners into similar action. Have you registered yet for the November 14 Publici-Tea™ Half-Day Workshop at The Village Bellevue taking place from 12:30 - 5 p.m.? Now is a good time to do exactly that! PR Beyond the Backyard, Publici-Tea™ Graduate Success Story

It’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we have abundant opportunities to be grateful for our health and get into action to support others who need help, now more than ever. Check out this inspiring story that ran in Woman’s World magazine about the amazing grace that took shape when one sister shared COURAGE and STRENGTH Affirmawraps from Affirmagy with a sister in hospice care and the impact powerful words made as she slipped away.
Do the good folks at Affirmagy want to sell more blankets? Absolutely. Does a story like this show that the nature of the business is so much bigger than that? You bet. That is why this is such a powerful, inspiring story that had me reaching for the Kleenex.
If you want to enlist the attention of the media about your product or service, lead with a powerful story that resonates at an emotional level, and you will. This story in Woman’s World magazine is proof positive of that.
There is much madness in the world right now. We have to focus on the things we can control, and extending kindnesses to others right now seems like the perfect action to take.

Publici-Tea™ Graduate Success Story

Publici-Tea™ Graduate Lori Richardson, founder of Score More Sales, has been blogging at AllBusiness.com for 3.5 years. Now, that effort is paving the way for her to reach an even wider audience of potential clients. Lori checked in with me recently to report that she was a speaker at the Sales Shebang in Minneapolis at which women in sales learned from an ‘all woman’ cast of sales experts. Sales expert Jill Konrath put this great event together, and Lori was thrilled to have a place at the table.
Also, because of the fact that Dunn & Bradstreet bought AllBusiness where she blogs, Lori is now the featured sales blogger this month with Hoovers.com – with an audience of 250,000 premium members. I asked Lori how this came about, and here is what she said.
“My situation is more like ‘luck is where preparation meets opportunity.’ Hoover’s is owned by Dun & Bradstreet, and Dun & Bradstreet recently bought AllBusiness.com. When Hoover’s was looking for more content for a month-long customer event, they turned to AllBusiness, which has over 50 blogs now. The managing editor forwarded me and one other blogger the opportunity – primarily because we write about sales. I believe part of it was because I check in with them periodically and there is some presence of mind there – and hopefully a quality product they’d want further out there in the world.”
This is just one more example of one good thing leading to another and still another. And it started in the first place because Lori put her expertise out to the world through the power of blogging and tended carefully to be concept of always being of service to others.
You can visit Lori’s blog at this link. You can read about the highlights from the Sales Shebang at this link.
And, now might also be a good time to consider how you can bring your message into the world with the kind of impact and reach that Lori is enjoying now.
You can get inspired with specific action items, resources, tools, and fabulous, new connections over tea and chocolate at the October 17 Grande Sized Publici-Tea hosted by yours truly and “Get Booked on Oprah Expert” Susan Harrow. If you register before October 10 at this link, you’ll save $100 on event registration.
Successes like Lori’s can be yours when you get into the DIY publicity game. Are you ready to play? And, are you ready to win big like Lori Richardson? I hope so. Looking forward to meeting you, being of service, and supporting your success.

Publici-Tea™ Graduate Success Story

I am so proud to post this glowing testimonial from one of my Publici-Tea™ guests from June of this year.

“On June 13th or three months ago to be exact, I attended Nancy Juetten’s
Publici-Tea. I was immediately impressed with the environment she had set up for our round table learning session and was impressed with her grace as the room started to fill with people. I enjoyed seeing who showed up for a day of inspiration and learning and was impressed by the mix of people in every possible stage of their own personal development. There were self made millionaires and self starting visionaries with nothing more than their dreams. All were on equal ground as we learned about each other and our individual challenges. Nancy presented her simple and amazing material and explanations in such an appetizing way. She never lost focus or momentum and I felt as though we were at a very important board meeting of our destinies. Not one person was left out or felt intimidated by what they did or did not know.
Nancy interjected a most brilliant woman, Betsy Talbot, as her blogging expert with unlimited ideas, patience and direct insight into the blogging pheonomenum. Nancy suggested to me at this event that I contact the Seattle P.I. about writing a blog for my trademark “Real Beauty.” I did just that and now I am blogging on line for the Seattle P.I. from Bellingham, Washington.
Since attending Public-Tea I have been taking Betsy Talbot’s hour long, 8-week session of
“Blogging University” and have found myself demystifying the blogging world and the opportunities to be gained from hosting one. I have just been interviewed on KVOS television as the “Real Beauty” expert and it looks as though I will be a monthly guest on KVOS “Experience North West” with Deb Slater.
My advice to you is simple: Take this opportunity to explore what you are needing help with. I guarantee Nancy Juetten is the kind of person both professionally and personally that will not disappoint you!
Jude Grimm
Real Beauty Reader Blogger - The Seattle Post Intelligencer
Would you like to be a reader blogger for the Seattle PI? Why not inquire, make clear how your blog will serve the readers, and ask for what you want? Here is
a link to make it read more about this opportunity.
That is what I advised Jude to do, and she got what she wanted. When she didn’t receive a reply, I implored her to pick up the phone and call. If you believe in how you can serve, there is no reason to be nervous when following up. Chances are, the decision maker will be glad to hear from you because so many other pots on the stove have been spilling over, and he or she just didn’t yet have time to connect with you.
What DIY publicity success are you seeking right now, and is there any way I can help? Let me know.

Alexis Meisel, owner of Zook Hooks Inc., called me on Friday with happy news. Dan Voelpel, business columnist for the Tacoma News Tribune, wrote a wonderful story about her company that creates purse hangers that keep handbags off the floor and away from nasty germs, while adding a bit of bling at the same time. She said she received 16 orders by 10 a.m. that day! I am sure even more activity flowed over the weekend, and I can’t wait to learn the details when Alexis updates me later this morning. My hat is off to Dan for writing an engaging article that just might have the potential to capture Oprah’s attention. Dan did some background research to find out what Oprah carries in her handbag, and he suggested that she should add a Zook Hook from Alexis Meisel’s company to the bounty. Given how carefully the producers at the Oprah Winfrey Show scout the Internet for story ideas, Alexis’ Zook Hooks just might earn the attention they deserve. That, my friends, will be an “alert the media” moment for sure!

If you’ve been intending to invite Oprah’s attention — either on her TV show or her magazine — in your products or services, be sure to claim your place at the October 17 Grande Sized Publici-Tea Workshop taking place at the Mercer Island Community Center from 12:30 - 5 p.m. Susan Harrow, the “Get Booked on Oprah” Expert herself will be flying to Seattle at my invitation to let you in on how to do exactly that. Whether you have intentions of inviting Oprah’s attention or the media in your own backyard, this promises to be a worthwhile, inspiring session that will empower your DIY publicity success. Publici-Tea™ Graduate Success Story

Marcia Brixey, a Publici-Tea™ graduate and the author of
The Money Therapist: A Woman’s Guide to Creating a Healthy Financial Life , knows how to ask for what she wants. She wanted a segment on the KCTS Public Television Show “About the Money.” She asked for it, and now she has earned a monthly guest spot on the shot. Her first appearance will be Tuesday, October 7, and she will appear the first Tuesday of every month after that through May 2009.
She also set the intention of earning a columnist position in a new eWomenNetwork publication called The Glow Project Magazine She asked for what she wanted, did the proper phone follow up, and now she has that gig, too.
This is high value exposure to the right people who can benefit from Marcia’s expertise and consider making her book a part of their personal libraries. The value of connecting with so many people with such high impact is priceless, and Marcia made these media placements happen on a do-it-yourself basis.
I asked Marcia for the nitty-gritty specifics about how she earned her spot on “About the Money,” and here is what she said.
“I approached them in April about being on the show to talk about my new book. Elaine Purchase (producer) replied they were off for the summer, but was interested in having me on the show in the fall. All I did was follow-up. When she replied that she would be in contact with me the first week in September, I followed-up (by email) again. Elaine came up with the idea of a monthly slot and we worked out the logistics. I am pretty sure she reviewed my interview on their show in April 2007 and visited my website to see my credentials. It’s all about connecting, relationship building and follow-up. My experience with the Glow Project Magazine was similar…”
Marcia’s success is based on her clarity about what she wants and her direct and consistent follow through to bring about the results she seeks. It’s just that simple.
Have you gotten clear about the top media placements that would be the biggest “win” for you, your products, your services, and your cause? Have you initiated contact to suggest how your contribution can add value for the readers, viewers, or listeners? And, most importantly, are you following up to ask for what you want? Follow Marcia’s lead, and you and your business will be very well served.
Marcia is one of 88 Publici-Tea™ graduates I’ve had the opportunity to mentor during my do-it-yourself publicity workshops that I hold in Bellevue, Tacoma, Portland, Mercer Island, and beyond. She is successful because she applies the lessons she has learned and made magic happen through her deliberate actions. I am seeking more success-seeking business owners who want to learn more about applying the power of DIY publicity to their buzz building advantage. If you are such a person or know others who are, join me at the upcoming events on September 10 in Portland, September 12 in Bellevue, and the Grande Sized Publici-Tea with Special Guest Susan Harrow on October 17 on Mercer Island. All the details can be found at this link.

Publici-Tea™ Graduate Success Story

Sandra Alonzo, owner of Queens’ Closet in Tacoma, called to register for the 8-15 Publici-Tea™ after registration closed. She was relieved to learn that another guest’s last minute cancellation was the reason we could set a place for her. And what a great day she had. Sandra introduced a room full of 26 people — including Tacoma News Tribune business columnist Dan Voelpel — to her business story and mission. Days later, Dan elected to write about her. The story he wrote was high impact, favorable, and inviting for plenty of locals who decided to shop in the days to follow at her store. If you missed Dan’s great article, here is the link.
Sandra wrote to both Dan and me tonight to share her gratitude. Her business saw a decisive and immediate bump as a result of Dan’s article for well beyond a week after its debut. Sandra was also invited to be filmed by TV Tacoma for a show called Business Matters.
These tough economic times have given Sandra plenty of pause, and the impact of the favorable publicity has made a world of difference for the staff at Queen’s Closet and the bottom line for the business.
Sandra writes, “Nancy, I am absolutely thrilled with where we are already since your wonderful Publici-Tea™ seminar that I took less than a month ago. Dan, you are a genius to make these things happen in the City of Tacoma for small business people like myself that are really trying , especially in these hard economic times. Many thanks (Mahalo Nui Loa) to you both.”
Is it any wonder that I can’t wait to share Publici-Tea™ with more business owners? There is still room at the Publici-Tea™ table for the September 10 event in Portland and the September 12 event in Bellevue. Are you ready to register? I can’t wait to meet you. Here is the link to claim your place.
